For the last four years, the first Saturday in June has hosted this beloved neighborhood event. Featuring live music, street art, performances and contents hosted by local businesses. The event, sprawling between Troutman Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, draws thousands of visitors. Make sure you’re once of them.
Every year for Memorial Day Weekend and the weekend following, Washington Square Park turns into an outdoor art museum with dozens of artists showcasing their work. All weekend from noon to 6 pm, visit for dazzling one-of-a-kind art pieces and discover this NYC tradition that has been happening biannually since 1931.
Taste of Times Square, June 6
Hosted by the Times Square Alliance, over 50 restaurants post up in Times Square hawking their delicious fare. Visit as many booths as you want and sample the eats in exchange for your tickets. Each ticket costs $1 and dishes range anywhere from $2 to $6 tickets. Buy yours here.
Beyoncé Formation Tour, June 7-8
This one doesn’t need any explanation. Queen Bey will be gracing us with her presence in New York for two days at CitiField. I’ve got my tickets and am actually so excited it’s sort of embarrassing. Some pricey tickets are still available – but can you really put a price tag on seeing royalty?
Jazz Age Lawn Party, June 11-12
I went to this event last year and had a great time. Score your tickets now for the June dates and pack up that picnic basket with some snacks to save yourself some doll hairs and the long wait times. You didn’t hear this from me, but it’s also possible to sneak in some alcohol with a little creative thinking – just don’t try smuggling in a wine bottle. You’re bound to get caught.
Museum Mile Festival, June 14
Join a New York legacy and attend this year’s Museum Mile Festival. The first festival, held in 1978, was a resounding success and this block party-style festival has taken place ever since. Check out New York staples like The Metropolitan Museum of Art of the recently-renovated Cooper Hewitt Design Museum and enjoy outdoor entertainment along Fifth Avenue.
Coney Island Mermaid Parade, June 18
This parade is reliably wild and crazy every year. The handmade costumes and wild ensembles bring over 3,000 spectators to Coney Island each year to take in the crazy culture and fun atmosphere of this annual event that has been turning heads since 1983.
NYC Pride March, June 26
The annual Pride March will take place this year on June 26. The event is free for spectators, but if you’d like to participate in the march itself, make sure to register for tickets. Prizes will also be awarded to those who exemplify this year’s theme, “Equality Needs You,” by a panel of judges.
Rooftop Cinema Club, various dates
Enjoy an outdoor movie and an adult beverage at the Rooftop Cinema Club, which meets various locations on a ton of days throughout the summer months. Doors open at 6 pm and the movie normally gets going around 8 pm. In the meantime, enjoy some bubbly and popcorn for a grand total of only $30.
