There’s nothing I love better than a good deal – after all, I’m a girl on a budget (in NYC, who isn’t?). So, with a new year comes new opportunities for saving – or, in reality, spending less money and getting a good deal on splurges. I’ve rounded up a list of a few things around the ‘hood that are taking place over the next few weeks that I’m planning on doing to save some bucks. Because everyone love a good bargain.
NYC Restaurant Week, January 18-February 5
This is one of my favorite weeks of the year. A ton of restaurants in the city offer pre-fixe dining deals for both lunch and dinner. The lunch options run $25 for three courses, and dinner comes in at $38. I took advantage of this deal last year with some friends at DBGB Kitchen, and we’re heading to Barraca in a few weeks to capitalize on the cheap, delicious food once again. Reservations seem to be still readily available; check it out here.
Broadway Week, January 19-February 5
You’re never going to get a better deal than 2-for-1 tickets. Instead of freezing at the half-price tickets booth in Times Square, order some tickets from the comfort of your cozy apartment. Though some of the shows are sold out (ahem, Beautiful) there’s still a decent selection at some amazing prices. I’m headed to An American in Paris during the last week, and we landed a steal at only $45/ticket. What better way to see Broadway?
Coney Island Polar Bear Club, every Saturday at 1pm now until April
What’s a better deal than FREE? I’m definitely not brave enough to participate in this weekly ritual, but really want to head down to Coney Island to spectate. Every Saturday, a group of brave souls takes the plunge into the Atlantic for various reasons ranging from the potential health benefits to the chance to just say they’ve done it. It’s free to participate and watch, but a donation is recommended to Camp Sunshine, and all participants must register in advance.
Drunk Shakespeare, half price tickets through Feb. 14
A bunch of actors take whiskey shots and then try to preform a Shakespeare play. Who doesn’t want to see that? From now until February 14, you can score half-priced tickets on BroadwayBox.com with the code “DrunkBox.” Snatch them up while they last – several shows are already completely sold out.
