Summer is almost upon us, so the activities and festivities are in full swing. Check out these events happening all throughout the city next month – it’s jam-packed so you’ve got plenty to choose from.
Ditch the subway and the car this month for a greener alternative. Sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month is also coming to NYC in a big way. Check out free moonlight bike rides, the Brooklyn Bike Rave or just hop on a good ‘ole CitiBike to take part in this month’s festivities.
Bikers from around the globe converge on NYC the first Sunday of May for this annual bike ride. The City of New York closes many streets around the city so bikers have the roads to themselves – what better way to start Bike Month? The ride spans 40 miles, and all of the proceeds go to bike education for kids. See the city and do some good.
The NY PHIL BIENNIAL, launched in 2014, is a flagship project of the New York Philharmonic exploring of a wide range of composers and performers. This shows, presented both at Lincoln Center and other spots around the city, is a chance to see true masters in action. I was able to hear the NY Philharmonic themselves last summer, and If you’ve never seen them in action, I urge you to check it out – I was able to hear the amazing orchestra in Central Park last summer, and was blown away. Hear them, along with the other amazing performers, through June 11.
